UMAS/MAFS Celebrate Christmas 2019

UMAS/MAFS Celebrate Christmas 2019

Christmas is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, observed primarily on December 25 as a religious and cultural celebration among billions of people around the world. Traditional Christmas decorations include bells, candy canes, stockings, wreaths, angels and candles. During Christmas, lights and banners are hung along streets, along with Christmas trees placed in prominent places and in individual homes.

By celebrating such festive occasions UMAS/MAFS fulfills one of its major goals to break the isolation for the seniors to lead a happy and content life!

Our Naperville location celebrated Christmas on the 20th of December, 2019. Keeping in mind that Christmas is a time to be merry, the seniors and staff participated as always with cheer. The seniors and staff were marvelously dressed in Christmas hats and outfits. Community Church members, Rachel from Calvary Church and Pastor Purvi Satvadi from Brethren Church Of Oswego were invited as guests for our party. Christmas party commenced with a meet and greet by our seniors with the Community Church members. They were happy to meet the seniors who were filled with the holiday merriment and cheer. The seniors gathered to listen and enjoy the Christmas carols sung by the guests who also read scriptures from the Bible. Pastor Purvi delivered a divine speech about the birth of Christ. The seniors enjoyed the Christmas atmosphere. Gifts were distributed to all our seniors and staff. The Highlight of this occasion was Mr. Babu Modi, our senior participant who was dressed up as Santa Claus. Everyone was amazed to see him. He entered singing the song of Jingle Bells and distributed candies to all the seniors. Holiday music was played as the seniors danced merrily with Santa Claus.
Later, the staff presented the guests with flowers as a gesture of gratitude. A special holiday style healthy lunch was served for seniors with soup and sandwiches. There was Holiday Optimism and Christmas vibes throughout the celebration!

Our Schaumburg location celebrated Christmas on the 18th of December, 2019. Around 75 to 80 seniors participants attended this festive occasion. The celebration started around 10:30 am. Professional Singers were invited to sing Christmas carols to entertain our seniors. The seniors were urged to dance as they also sang Hindi film songs. One of our seniors dressed as Santa Clause distributed gifts to the seniors. A group of seniors fabulously sang the Jingle Bells. The seniors later enjoyed Healthy Punjabi food. Also, a former senior’s son joined the function, who treated everyone who attended with samosas and jalebis. Following lunch, the seniors happily continued their dance and merry-making!

Our other locations also celebrated Christmas. A special mention to our Vernon Hills location who celebrated the Christmas festivities! Vernon Hills Seniors celebrated Christmas two days with a different set of seniors! They decorated the Christmas tree at the beginning of the month. The seniors were dressed in their Christmas attire. Our Staff gave a gift to the best-dressed male and female seniors. School students came to perform for the seniors. The seniors enjoyed the Students who played various instruments such as guitar, violin, and saxophone. They also danced and sang Christmas carols.
