UMAS Celebrates Holi with Seniors in Subdued Manner Amidst the Covid-19 Crisis

Holi is a festival, celebrated in India, that announces the arrival of spring and is now celebrated throughout the world. It’s a festival of colors that creates an atmosphere of joy and brings people together and denotes a fresh beginning. During these trying and crucial times of the COVID-19 Pandemic, UMAS/MAFS observed caution to avoid huge gatherings while celebrating Holi at the ADS centers. It was celebrated before the lockdown (Stay at home order). Seniors and staff were well informed about the COVID-19 to take caution. As they maintained distance and caution, all our locations celebrated Holi.

Naperville ADS location, seniors were very excited to celebrate the Holi festival as they performed dance and skits. The program started with a speech about Holi by Mr. Kirit Vakharia and Ms. Manju Kalra. Senior participant, Mr. Bhupendra Shah and his wife Ms. Saroj performed an excellent dance for a Bollywood song. The comedy skit was skillfully performed by Ms. Shobhana Nagori and Ms. Sarla Singh. Ms. Nirmala Kapoor, Mr. Raj Gupta, Ms. Manju Kalra, Ms. Triguna Dave, Ms. Vasuben Patel, Ms.Tara Pawar, Ms. Manjula Desai, and Ms.Beena Chhablani danced for a Bollywood song “Rang Barse bhigi”. Their performance was unbelievably entertaining. As we watched them dance we could not believe that they were our senior participants. In order to follow the safety rules this time at the Holi celebration, we used flower petals instead of different colors

Schaumburg location seniors gave speeches on Holi and Uma Nath sang a mesmerizing Bhajan about the festival. Seniors danced and enjoyed while maintaining their distance from each other.
