On Monday, November 2nd, 2021, Dr. Mrs. Kumar along with Prashant Kumar- IT Director, Mr. Sagar Kumar–CFO, seniors, and staff celebrated Dhanteras at our new state-of-the-art location on 2520 W. Devon Ave., Chicago, IL 60659.
This sacred event is a part of the Diwali or Deepavali celebrations which continues until November 6 – Bhai Dooj. The significance of celebrating Dhanteras is since Lord Dhanvantari is the God of Ayurvedic medicine, Dhanteras is observed for the wellbeing of one’s family members and kin. Lord Dhanvantari is considered as the healer of all ailments.
Puja was performed piously by Panditji while the staff and seniors prayed for good health and wealth. Following the Puja, prashad and lunch were served. Later, Seniors gathered around the deities where the Puja was performed and sang sacred songs praising the Lord. Dr. Mrs. Kumar followed the ritual by encouraging everyone to buy utensils, gold, and silver which denote prosperity. A few did buy gold as it was a sign of prosperity. Seniors were happy because celebrating the different festivals of India, reminded them of their yesteryears of being close to home!
