Frequently asked questions about UMAS home care & adult day care

At UMAS, we provide in-home care services for older adults, including assistance with daily activities, health monitoring, and emotional support. We also offer adult day care services for individuals who need supervision and engagement during the day.

Seniors age 60 or older who live in Illinois (U.S. citizen or permanent resident) and are eligible for Medicaid. Individuals with physical disabilities also qualify. Income does not determine eligibility. It is reviewed only to assess possible cost-sharing. See if you qualify.

For people who qualify, the Illinois Department on Aging’s Community Care Program (CCP) can pay for in-home care. Your parent does not have to qualify for Medicaid to get CCP, but they must apply for Medicaid and enroll if eligible. Read our CCP guide.

Yes, we offer free door-to-door transportation for participants who qualify for our adult day care programs.

Yes. Participants get breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Our meals are approved by dietitians and provided daily through the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), which we have offered since 2016. Learn about CACFP.

We are looking for compassionate and responsible individuals. You must be willing to care for older adults, complete basic training (provided by UMAS), and meet the legal requirements for employment. No previous experience is required; we will train you!
